The Adrian College men’s basketball team has advanced to the MIAA tournament semifinal game against Calvin University. They’ll play on the campus of Albion College. The Bulldogs come into the game as the no. 3 seed with a record of 15-11 and the Knights hold the no. 2 seed with a record of 15-10.
The Bulldogs defeated the Knights at home in late January by a score of 76-59. Calvin responded with a season finale win at Calvin to lock up the No. 2 seed. The Bulldogs will look to take round three against the Knights on Friday.
The Bulldogs are coming off a first round win against Hope where they came away with an 83-73 victory. The win over Hope is the first postseason win for Adrian since 2012 where they defeated Trine 59-50. After not scoring in the first half, junior Jordan Harris finished the game with 25 total points.
During the first round game, Jeremy Kalonji added 17 points for the Bulldogs while Kendall Bellamy scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Ke’Shaun Wyatt-Morris came off the bench for Adrian and controlled the boards by racking up eight rebounds and collecting nine points.

Jordan Harris, Trey Helinski, Robert Warrick, Kendall Bellamy, and Jeremy Kalonji make up the starting five for Adrian. In conference, Harris is averaging 21.2 points per game (ppg) and is shooting 40.8%. Helinski averages 9.7 ppg in conference and earlier this season made seven three-point shots in the team’s road win over Kalamazoo in which the team broke the Adrian school record for most made three-pointers in a single game (17).
Warrick leads the starting five in conference shooting percentage at 47.8% and collects an average of 4.3 rebounds per game (reb/g) against conference opponents. Bellamy is shooting 43.3% and holds and average of 3.7 reb/g. Kalonji rounds out the starting five as the big man who collects and average of 16.9 ppg versus MIAA opponents and grabs an average of 6.0 rebounds.

A win for the Bulldogs on Friday night will put them into the MIAA tournament championship game. The Bulldogs would play the winner of no. 4 Trine vs. no. 1 Albion.
The winner of the MIAA tournament will receive an automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division III National Tournament.
