* I’ve been playing golf since I was 5, and have dreamt of playing on the PGA Tour since I was 12.
* I walked on to my Division 1 college golf team in my third attempt as a Junior, and planned to turn pro after graduating. An uncommon and injury sidelined me from golf and fitness for 2 years after college, requiring stem cell injections and total rest to heal a degenerative stereo clavicular joint which doctors said would prevent me from ever playing golf again.
* In 2016, I beat the odds and returned to golf, debuting in my first professional event 1 month after takin my first swings post-injury. I won in my fifth start, and continued to split time between traveling to compete and working as a caterer and caddy to fund it.
* After more than a decade of pursuing golf whole heartedly, I felt dejected at the end of 2019 to not be further along the path to the PGA Tour and decided to forge a new path in life
* I didn’t feel fulfilled from golf anymore and wanted to explore another passion I had: connecting with like minded individuals through social media.
* In 2020, covid hit and golf tournaments were cancelled
* TikTok also emerged as the most explosive growth opportunity on social media in history, creating the perfect storm for me to pause the golf journey and dive all in to social media and build my personal brand
* I moved to Hollywood in support of this, hoping to network and collaborate with other creators and immerse myself in the world of content
* I followed current trends to create viral, community building, engaging content mostly in the lifestyle niche
* My plan was to grow as quickly as possible on TikTok while the opportunity lasted, and then transition in the future to more long form, truly impactful content on YouTube and Instagram, centered around my passions: golf, health and fitness, mindfullness and personal growth.
* The plan worked, and I amassed 1.4 million followers by the end of 2020
* But I was growing tired of the debauchery in Hollywood, the bad influences surrounding me, and the fast paced lifestyle which was effective for gaining followers and views, but not sustainable or healthy, mentally or physically
* Thankfully I was self aware enough to recognize how my environment was affecting me and make the necessary changes to it
* I removed myself from Hollywood, at least temporarily
* I sized down my social circle and cut out everything draining me of energy I needed for my true purpose in life
* I did a complete dopamine detox where I eliminated anything resulting in unearned dopamine.
* The point of this extreme reset was to rewire my brain to be able to focus intensely and unlearn the habits of constantly seeking instant gratification and short term pleasure.
* This detox included:
* No cell phone, social media or digital entertainment (TV, YouTube) not related to my work and self improvement
* No alcohol, no caffeine, no sugar or cheat meals
* I added in daily golf practice, meditation, breath work, cold showers, gratitude journalling, consistent sleep patterns, a gallon of water daily, exercise daily, time in nature daily, nutrient rich food and supplementation, healthy relationships with inspiring people, consuming uplifting and educational content through books, podcasts, and courses
* As I began practicing and playing golf again, exercising and eating clean daily, and prioritizing sleep and recovery, I saw my golf game quickly return to the level I was playing at in 2019, if not better. I began rapidly transforming into the person I want to be
* Moving forward, I am using social media to document and rally support for my comeback to pro golf on the Dakotas Tour summer 2021.
* The Dakotas Tour is 40+ years old and includes 17 tournaments over the course of 9 weeks in 4 states.
* I’m taking people inside my journey and process with golf, fitness, mindfullness, travel and competition in the hopes of educating, inspiring, entertaining, and connecting with the golf community at large.
* I’m sharing everything I do to perform at my best, and giving my audience an inside the ropes look at life on the mini tours and the sacrifice it takes to pursue pro golf.
*The goal of my content is to grow the game of golf, make it more fun, cool, broadly appealing and inclusive so that future generations may continue to enjoy the game and all of the life lessons it teaches.
