Highlights of 6’4 G Sekou ‘Suki’ Wiggs during his junior season (15-16) at Alaska Anchorage.
It didn’t take long for the Seattle bred combo guard to make a splash on the D2 scene. In front of a nationally televised audience, Suki led the Seawolves to a near upset of ’16 NCAA Tournament cinderella Middle Tennessee St. in the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout, dropping 35 points in the contest. Suki would go on to break the tourney scoring record formerly held by NBA vet Glen Robinson, amassing 98 total points in just three games (1-2).
Suki’s brilliance carried over to the regular season where he helped lead Alaska Anchorage to a second place finish in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference & an NCAA tourney berth, averaging 24.1pts/7.3reb/3.3ast per.
At the conclusion of the season, Suki was voted league Newcomer of the Year, 1st Team All-GNAC, 1st Team All-West Region & also picked up a 3rd Team All-America Honor, one of just two non seniors to receive AA recognition.
Not surprisingly, Suki is a preseason 1st Team All-American heading into his final college season in 16-17.
