Directors’ statement:
Our inspiration for this story germinated from a brief personal experience with extreme sports and then musing on how much trust we willingly place in strangers in those situations. We gravitated toward the life-and-death stakes and yet saw inherent comedy in that relationship. We also felt that setting our story in midair would create a unique viewing experience and make the film distinct. But, even with an epic setting – 13,000 ft. above the world – Tandem at its core is really just a simple, primal conflict between two people. Unbeknownst to us at first, our film’s title was going to prove quite relevant to the way we made the film. As a duo, we’ve shared the responsibilities in just about every aspect of filmmaking now. Our friendship, which began in film school, has grown closer, like that of soldiers in the trenches, while creating Tandem. And from here, as a tandem duo, we look to develop new friendships and collaborations with artists and industry folks, looking forward to building upon this experience and making more films.
