Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball star Jake Stephens has been selected to participate in two high-profile events during the upcoming Final Four weekend in Houston, Texas. The 6-foot-8 big man will take part in both the 2023 NABC – Reese’s Division I College All-Star Game and the 2023 State Farm College Team Skills and 3X3U Championships.
Despite missing the last 11 games of the regular season due to injury, Stephens had a standout campaign in his final collegiate season. His return to the Southern Conference Tournament provided the Mocs with historic play and a four-game run for the ages.
Stephens finished the season averaging 22.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game while becoming the 26th Moc in program history to score 500 or more points in a single season. He was one of just two players in NCAA Division I this season to average at least 20 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks per contest.
According to Sports Reference College Basketball’s stat database, Stephens is the only player in NCAA Division I basketball since at least 1992-93 to post 1,900 career points, 900 total rebounds, 350 assists, and 200 blocks in a career.
The 2023 NABC – Reese’s Division I College All-Star Game will take place on Friday, March 31 at 4:30 p.m. ET at NRG Stadium in Houston. The game will feature the top senior talent from across NCAA Division I and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Stephens will play for the Reese’s Division I West All-Stars, with Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams at the helm.
In addition, Stephens will participate in the 2023 State Farm College Team Skills and 3X3U Championships, which will take place on Wednesday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Bayou Music Center in downtown Houston. The event will feature graduating college seniors competing in a variety of competitions, including team shootouts, a skills relay, and 3×3 basketball. The event will air on ESPN2 on Sunday, April 2 at 10 p.m. ET.
The State Farm College Team Skills and 3X3U Championships are part of Hoops House, a series of events staged by Intersport at the Bayou Music Center during college basketball’s most exciting weekend. Intersport will also host the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships on March 30, which will air live on ESPN2, and the Rocket Mortgage High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships on March 31, which will be broadcast on CBS.
