Juan Hernandez, Chattanooga Football Club’s all-time assist leader, is set to transition from the field to the front office. Affectionately known as “Juanito” and a pivotal player for nearly a decade, Hernandez will assume a new role in coaching and development, overseeing the men’s and women’s first team, as well as the academy and foundation.
With 126 games under his belt, 19 goals, and 24 assists, Hernandez has left an indelible mark on CFC’s history. In a memorable moment in August 2015, Hernandez played a vital role in evening the NPSL Championship scoreline 1-1, after chipping the ball left to his forward, who fired a shot past the New York Cosmos keeper in front of over 18,000 fans.

This season, Hernandez will bid farewell to his position as “El Capitan” and make a seamless transition to the coaching staff. His new responsibilities will aim to enhance the women’s and men’s structures, from the first team to the youngest level of academy play.
Hernandez’s contributions to CFC’s legacy are numerous, including holding the all-time assist record, playing the second-highest number of games, ranking sixth in scoring, and delivering a remarkable bending free-kick goal that would make David Beckham proud. As Hernandez takes on this new role, he will play a crucial part in shaping the future of the club by serving in multiple areas across the CFC ecosystem.
