The No. 4 seeded Bryan College Men’s Basketball team took the floor in Summer Gymnasium for the final time on Monday night with their season on the line. The No. 4 seed Lions battled the No. 13 seed Knights of St. Andrews in the Opening Round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament. The game started off close, but Bryan used a 10-4 run to end the 1st half and go into the locker room with a 40-31 lead. The Lions used the energy of the home crowd to gain momentum and shoot 60% from the field in the second half. Bryan secured the home victory with a final score of 89-71 and punch their ticket to the quarterfinal round of the AAC Tournament.
Brandon Thomas led all scorers once again with 23 points while shooting 85% from the floor. Trey Spencer tallied 17 points on 8-11 from the field off the bench. Gene Holmes did a little of everything with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Michael Cody added 11 points to round out the double-digit scorers.
Bryan will play in the quarter-final round of the AAC tournament on Thursday at 8:30am against No. 5 seed Truett McConnell. The game will be held at the MeadowView Marriott Convention Center & Conference Resort in Kingsport, TN.
