Full preview and details on the Region 3 opening round of the Tennessee High School basketball playoffs. The Hurricanes of East Hamilton High School and Panthers of Lenoir City High School will meet in the opening round of the regional playoffs.
The Hurricanes were able to secure their first district championship since 2013 against the Eagles of Signal Mountain on Tuesday night. It was a close game for much of the first two quarters, but later in the contest East Hamilton pulled away from Signal Mountain, winning 50-38.
East Hamilton lost two of their three contests in the regular season to Signal Mountain. Tristin Sutton scored a game-high 12 points for the Hurricanes. McKenna Hayes finished with 11 total points. Morgan Bone added 7. With the victory, East Hamilton now stands at 18-11 overall on the season. They are 9-2 in the 2022 calendar year.

Lenoir City had a promising first half of the season, but the Panthers have struggled a bit since the winter break. Since the calendar year turned to 2022, they have only won three of their thirteen games.
The team is currently on a three game skid, including losing both of their district tournament contests. First to Sequoyah High School in the semifinal 53-42, and then the consolation game 60-45. They’ll be looking to right the ship tonight.
The Panthers are now 3-10 since their winter break Over their last three games they have scored 39 points per game, which equals out to 119 total points. Over their last three games they have allowed 50 points per game, which equals out to 149 total points.
