Flash-mobs in 130 cities around the world turned out on Saturday 2 April to participate in International Pillow Fight Day. One of the goals of organizers, the Urban Playground Movement, is to make happenings in public space to become a part of popular culture, partially replacing passive, non-social consumption experiences (like watching television)- and consciously celebrating public spaces in our cities as our “urban living rooms.”

For the fourth time in 4 years, a broad assortment of characters from the city of Los Angeles participated in the global initiative to whack their neighbors in the public (in this case, Pershing) Square. Young and old came out in street-clothes and in costumes for fun and sport.

We take you up-close with some colorful characters (like Playboy’s Disgruntled Pillow-fighting Bunnies) that turned Tinsel Town into a blizzard of flying feathers for the day.
