The No. 20 Bryan College Women’s Basketball team hosted Columbia International University on Saturday for an Appalachian Athletic Conference showdown. The Lady Lions got off to their typical fast start offensively with a 16-2 run and finished the 1st quarter with a 21-8 lead.
During the run, Karli Combs hit a corner three to record her 400th career three-pointer made. She broke the Lady Lions career record last season with her 324th three. This milestone almost guarantees it will belong to her for a long time.
The second stanza was more of the same as Bryan caught fire from deep for 6 three-pointers to go into halftime up 55-35. The Lady Lions were an efficient 9-12 from the charity stripe in the 3rd quarter and extended their lead to 27 points. The Rams outscored Bryan 27-16 in the final quarter, but it was not enough to close the gap. The Lady Lions picked up their 15th win of the season, 97-81, and remain undefeated at the top of the AAC.
Gracee Dishman led the team with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman Torie Brooks went 4-8 from deep and finished with 14 points. Kaitlynn Hennessee tallied 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. Destiny Kassner put up 12 points on 5-9 from the field. Deandra Luna dished out 7 assists and scored 9 points.
Bryan will travel to St. Andrews University on Tuesday to battle the Knights at 5:30PM.
