DeMarcus Lawrence underwent his third career back surgery this offseason, which put him on the PUP list to start Cowboys training camp. Lawrence will be held out of the NFL’s Hall of Fame game on Thursday, August 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Canton, OH. However, he was never going to play in that game anyway. The PUP is now down to WR Amari Cooper, DL Chauncey Golston, and DT Trysten Hill.
The seven-year veteran gets set to start his eighth season as a Cowboy, and the heart and soul of the Dallas defense. The two-time pro-bowler has not missed a regular season game since week 15, 2016. Lawrence led the Cowboys with 6.5 sacks in 2020. Lawrence’s 45.5 career sacks put him seventh overall in franchise history of sacks.
