New footage shows what is reportedly the moment a Ukrainian airliner was hit by a missile minutes after taking off from Tehran. The clip below, verified by The New York Times, appears to show an Iranian missile hitting a plane above Parand. The point of the strike in the video is also believed to be the point that the Ukrainian airliner stopped transmitting its signal before crashing on Wednesday.
A small explosion occurred when a missile hit the plane, but the plane did not explode,. The jet continued flying for several minutes and turned back towards the airport. The plane flew toward the airport before it exploded and crashed.
