HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Blue Hose wasted no time getting on the board. Trey Fenderson led off the bottom of the first with a double to center, followed by a single from Randolph. Amman Dewberry then delivered an RBI single to plate Fenderson. With runners on the corners, Matthew Rollison roped a double down the left field line to bring in Randolph. A groundout RBI by Ouzts capped the four-run frame for a quick 4-0 PC lead.
  • After a scoreless second, the Blue Hose bats stayed hot in the third. Randolph opened the inning by launching a solo shot over the left field wall. Just a few batters later, Ouzts joined the home run parade with a blast to the same spot, extending the lead to 6-0.
  • Longwood responded with two runs in the fourth, but PC had an immediate answer. Fenderson ripped a triple down the right field line, setting up an RBI single by Randolph. Dewberry reached base and later scored on a wild pitch, padding the lead to 8-2.
  • Both teams exchanged runs in the fifth inning. For PC, it was Brody Linker’s heads up base running that pushed the score to 9-3.
  • The Lancers closed the gap in the sixth, scoring three to make it 9-6, but the Blue Hose would slam the door in the eighth.
  • In the bottom of the eighth, Randolph led off with a single and was moved to third on Dewberry’s base hit. Rollison followed with another RBI single to plate Randolph. After Ouzts was intentionally walked to load the bases, Jackson Hugus worked a walk to bring in a run, and Linker added a sacrifice fly. RBI singles from Fenderson and Randolph capped the five-run inning, giving PC a commanding 15-6 lead.
  • Longwood scratched across two runs in the ninth, but Presbyterian held firm to claim the 15-8 series-opening win.
