WATCH: Manchester University Hangs on For Road Win at Adrian College

The Adrian College men’s basketball team hosted Manchester University in its first home game of the season. The Bulldogs battled back in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to top the Spartans as they fell 84-81.

Adrian took an early lead in the first half and led 9-6 before Manchester hit a three-pointer and tied the game at 9-9. The Spartans hit another three-pointer minutes later to go up 21-16. The Bulldogs went down twelve with plenty of time remaining in the first half and were able to come back and cut the Manchester lead to five at 39-34. The two teams continued to exchange baskets and went into the locker room at half time with the score at 50-43 in favor of the Spartans.

Manchester finished 12-of-21 from beyond the arch in the first half totaling 36 of its 50 points. The Bulldogs were just 5-or-14 from outside the perimeter.

Adrian came out slow in the second half and allowed Manchester to lead by 13. Adrian went on a 9-3 run and brought the score to a six-point game and kept their hopes alive. Kendall Bellamy made a driving layup to bring the score to 70-68 and forced Manchester to call a timeout. Tyler Gillery went on to tie the game for the Bulldogs with 3:22 remaining in the second half. A back-and-forth battle took the game down to the wire with Adrian trailing by three with four seconds left on the clock. Kas Oganowski chucked up a half-court shot, but it fell short and brought the game to final score of 84-81, Manchester.

Adrian went on to shoot 52% in the second half while Manchester shot 38.5% in second half. Kendall Bellamy led the Bulldogs in scoring with 20 points while Tyler Gillery collected 16, Robert Warrick totaled 14, and Kas Oganowski finished with 13.
