Diksha Dagar is Deaf and is a golfer. She had represented India at the 2017 Deaf Olympics in Samsun, Turkey, where she won a silver medal. She has also represented India at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia where she was one of three Indian women golfers. She also won two titles at the Ladies European Tour. The list of Indian women Golfers who qualified for the Olympics was finalised last month. Diksha was among the reserves.
Now the Indian Golf Union (IGU) has announced that, due to last minute changes Diksha Dagar will qualify for the Olympics. This is Diksha’s first time participating in the Olympics. However, when this decision was made Diksha was in Ireland to take part in the ISPS Handa World Invitational. The IGU quickly made arrangements for Dagar’s travel to Tokyo. She will join Aditi Ashok who is another Indian golfer. taking part in the Olympics. Before leaving for Tokyo Diksha said, “Participating in the Olympics is a dream for her and she is determined to win medals for India.”
Her father Narren Dagar who is also her coach and caddie will also be joining her in Tokyo. Diksha reached Tokyo on 1st August and is very excited for her matches. The Olympics Women’s Golfing Competition begins on 5th August. We wish her all the best!
